As many of the roles over the years involved compliance, I am quite intimate with the role and structure of policy and procedure. In the instructional design field, policies often drive the requests received for many learning projects. However, a good understanding of them is essential as some may need updating or conflict with best practices or other policies or statutes. In addition to reviewing, revising, and editing policy, I have also written standard operating procedures (SOPs) for everything from medical dictation and transcription protocols, to resident evaluation processes, to study participant payment card control procedures.
